Tour de France Stage 17 Reconnaissance - Peyragudes, Azet & Col de Portet

When the 2018 Tour de France route was announced in late October 2017 we were beyond excited, firstly that the Tour was coming to our home town but also at the explosive 65 kilometre stage featuring three climbs, including the all new and never ridden before Col de Portet. Currently partially paved and a complete unknown to the race, we had to go and check it our pronto before it was covered in a blanket of winter snow. Fortunately Mother Nature was on our side and we managed to nab the very last day of summer, making our recon mission beyond all expectations. Since a picture paints a thousand words you can see some of the photos from the day below, and to see more of the route that has all the hallmarks as something to go down in Tour de France history, check out my Stage 17 Tour de France recon video.
